Make Love, Not War (and while you're at it, make history)

I am always thrilled when friends ask me to photograph their wedding, or baby, or Christmas card photo. But when your favorite gay couple asks you to not only share their long awaited nuptials, but also document the event, it doesn't get better than that. Especially because George and Rudolph played an important role in my own wedding (groomsman, and officiant). George is a minister and has been instrumental in legalizing gay marriage in the District. It is a huge satisfaction to know that he too can enjoy the distinction of being married to the man he loves.

The wedding was absolutely gorgeous, from the white calla lilies peppered throughout the home to the beautiful people who attended the very intimate ceremony. They were married in their parlor by one of the key players in legalizing gay marriage in Washington. What a treat! The couple entertained their guests at the swanky Black Salt in the Palisades, then invited everyone back to the home for cake and libations. The cake was a croquembouche, a confection composed of a towering mound of profiteroles glazed with caramel from Patisserie Poupon, my favorite French bakery in town. The care these two lovebirds gave to every detail of their wedding was a reflection of their exquisite styles and the special bond they share. Behold my favorite moments from a truly memorable occasion.
